666Bet & Metro Play License Suspended

666Bet & Metro Play License Suspended666Bet only recently added Netent games to their casino, so they’re not even onto our listings yet, however I felt the need for this post as I think it’s important for players to see that governments take their licensing duties seriously and when a casino isn’t doing things right, action will be taken. 666Bet and Metro Play have had their licenses suspended pending investigation.

“The grounds for the decision to call the licensee to a hearing of the Commission and to suspend its licence relate largely to serious concerns about the existing control and management of Metro Play. It would not have been in the interest of customers, the eGambling industry or the reputation of Alderney to allow Metro Play to continue its operations.”

My Experience with 666Bet

This doesn’t come as a surprise to me. I actually created an account with 666Bet in anticipation of adding them to our listings. I signed up, got the bonus and gave them a trial run to help us with our ratings and review. I did not like what I saw. The site itself was a little dark for my liking, but otherwise it served it’s purpose. My problem came when it came to withdrawing. Rather than ramble on for paragraphs about how awful the situation was, I’ll sum it up;

  • I withdrew to the same Skrill account I used to deposit.
  • I instantly sent documents to verify my account.
  • My withdrawal took over 8 days in total to reach me.
  • Support did not reply to emails
  • Live Chat frequently had a queue of 150+ customers before me.
  • Even when the Live Chat queue was only 1 or 2 players before me, it still took over an hour for a response and when they did respond, it was once, and getting a second answer took about as long again.

In the end I must have contacted their support over 20 times, e-mailed their head of customer service and got hold of two affiliate managers, yet no one was able to help and I believe it was a mixture of sheer luck and my own tenacity which got me my funds in the end.

At the time I thought to myself “how are these guys licensed?!” and I wondered if it was worth complaining to an independent 3rd party, or even the licensing body. I can’t say exactly what lead to their license being suspended but if my experience is anything to go by, I would bet my bottom dollar that there were plenty of other customers with the same complaint as me. For me it’s pleasing to see that the system works and that the licensing bodies are listening and taking action when required.

What Happens Next?

666Bet has been advised to pay all players the remaining funds in their accounts, but as I was lucky enough to receive my funds just before the shut down, I don’t know if this has been completed.

It remains to be seen whether the casino will be able to  get their licenses reinstated and begin accepting customers again. If that’s the case, I sincerely hope they learn from their mistakes and that the licensing bodies keep a close eye on them, and all the rest of their casinos, to make sure the customers are getting the service they deserve.
