William Hill is a name that is well known and respected in the UK, having been a permanent mark on the high street as a book maker for many years. Being trusted and a known name is one thing, but William Hill are keen to be seen as more than that. To be seen as modern and innovative rather than safe and stale.
William Hill joined the online world way back in 2002 and to be honest, not much has changed since then. They branched out somewhat half heartedly into the online casino sector, offering a small Casino section featuring games from some lesser known game providers. Rather confusingly, the casino games from Netent, the brand that players know and love, are hidden away in a “Games” section, and even then there aren’t many.
All this could be set to change, as William Hill have just hired a technology focused PR agency to help improve their image in the tech world and finally have the word ‘innovative’ utterable in a sentence with their name. They’ll be investing a small amount into new businesses to increase their reach across various channels and are building new technology to try and keep up with the competition. They are focusing mainly on a virtual reality horse racing app, something that has been trialled at many other large and more tech savvy companies, such as Betfair, but sidelined due to the complexity of it’s upkeep versus it’s relatively low popularity.
Hopefully their new PR company can do more than just boost their image within tech circles and will hopefully give William Hill some good advice and steer them in the right direction. I am hopeful that it wont be long until we see a much better Netent selection on their site along with some promotions for casino lovers, as it’s the players that really make an online casino.
