You may not know this, but online gaming via CherryCasino is only one part of the massive Cherry empire; they also run a number of land-based casinos and restaurants making them an all round entertainment and recreation company. However, recently they have been so pleased with the growth from their online ventures that they’ve fully realised that the internet is the future for them.
They have announced that they will, from now on, be really focusing on the online gaming market, expanding and growing, as its truly the best way forward. To this end, in a shock but amicable move, Cherry’s current CEO Emil Sunvisson will be stepping down from the role in order to bring in someone more experienced in online gaming, to realise the brands dreams.
“Cherry’s long-term strategy is generating continued growth in online gaming, both through organic growth and acquisitions, with the goal of reaching profitability in this area as soon as possible…I would like to extend our appreciation to Emil Sunvisson for his time as CEO. Emil has played a critical role in turning Cherry into a gaming company that is well-positioned for the future.”
– Rolf Åkerlind, chairman.
As with most amicable moves at high levels, Sunvisson will not simply leave and that’s that. He will remain working with the company in an advisory role until both parties feel ready to go it alone. In the meantime, CFO Fredrik Burvall has stepped in as CEO although rumour has it that the plans are to recruit externally for this vital role.
