iGaming can be a tough industry for women, whether it’s as a career choice, or as a player, with many roles and websites being geared towards men, so, as a woman myself, it’s always nice to hear of females reaching dizzying heights within the industry. Netent themselves aim to have a 50/50 gender divide in their players and to ensure they remain well staffed with women in the work place and now Netent casino Bgo has announced the promotion of Hannah Westley to managing director.
Westley has held the role of finance director of the company since 2009 and was given this promotion to MD early in 2015.
Although, this is also the company who teamed up with Dan Bilzerian who I always thought was a bit of a jack the lad comedy character, but ultimately a likeable poker player, whereas in recent months it’s become clear that there’s a much darker side to this public figure, who threw a woman off a roof (seriously, who does that?!) breaking her foot and later on kicked a woman right in the face. Despite these atrocious actions and behaviours, Bgo are still proud to have him as their spokesperson. So, what good Bgo are really doing for women in gaming remains to be seen, but hopefully with a woman at the helm we’ll see exciting developments and opportunities for all players, male and female with this ‘love them or hate them’ online Netent casino.
