As usual a couple of days before the actual launch of a new NetEnt video slot we got the exclusive chance to already try out the game. Below you’ll find my first impressions of video slot Sparks, due to be released coming week.
Win both ways and expanding cloning wilds
Like without a doubt many of our readers I’m a big fan of NetEnt’s most popular video slot Starburst, of course because of its Expanding Sticky Wilds (with re-spin) and the fixed ‘Both Ways Win’ feature (winning bet lines formed from both left to right as well as from right to the left). That’s why I was eagerly looking forward to try out upcoming new NetEnt video slot Sparks, which will be available in most of the NetEnt Casinos on next Thursday the 23-rd.
After all, like video slot Starburst also video slot Sparks has an optional ‘Win Both Ways’ feature and an equally exciting Wild symbol that can not only expand itself to (possibly) cover a complete reel, but will also ‘clone’ symbols horizontally (from its right to its left) thus virtually guaranteeing a win whenever appearing.
Video slot Sparks game play
I play the free ‘fun play’ version of video slot Sparks and already on the intro screen of the game I can choose to either play with the Win Both Ways feature activated or only in ‘One Way Wins’ mode. I opt for the Win Both Ways and after the game has opened I set the bet level on 10, the coin value on € 0.01, thus playing with € 2 per spin (bet level 10 x 20 fixed bet lines = 200 x € 0.01 = € 2).
Already in the second spin I get a normal Wild symbol on the 4-th reel, awarding a nice win (see above image) which thus shows that besides the (more ‘exotic’) Expanding Cloning Wilds also the regular substituting Wild symbols of video slot Sparks can grant substantial winnings (especially when you’re playing with the Win Both Ways feature activated, as normally very rarely a Wild symbol on the 4-th reel grants a prize).
After about 10 spins I get (again on the 4-th reel) an Expanding Cloning Wild that unfortunately doesn’t expand itself (so this is a ‘randomly’ triggered feature). However, it indeed clones the symbol on the reel to its right to the reel of its left, of course again granting a win (and again because I’m playing in Win Both Ways mode). Then after two more (no win) spins an Expanding Cloning Wild appears (on the 2-nd reel) and this time it really does expand (only one position though) awarding the wins as shown below.
I play for some 25 minutes more when I get the below spin result, meaning also regular Wilds are cloned by the Expanding Cloning Wild, obviously creating more winning bet lines.
Then finally I get a fully Expanding Cloning Wild on the 2-nd reel awarding the below ‘Big Win’ and I thus end up (after one hour of game play) with a loss of exactly € 45.90.
Video slot Sparks ‘dry’ data
Some ‘facts’ about video slot Sparks:
- The Expanding Cloning Wilds will only appear on the 2-nd and 4-th reel;
- Regular Wild symbols can appear on every reel and on any position;
- The theoretical ‘Return to Player’ percentage in ‘Win One Way’ mode is 96,56% and in ‘Win Both Ways’ mode 96,54%;
- The highest possible bet per spin is € 400 as the highest possible coin value is € 2.00 (thus bet level 10 x 20 bet lines = 200 x coin value € 2.00 = € 400).
Video slot Sparks first impressions
As far as I’m concerned the most exciting moments in the game play of new video slot Sparks (much like when playing on video slot Starburst) are when an Expanding Cloning Wild appears on the second reel. Because whether or not this Wild will actually expand horizontally over the reel, by default it will clone symbols and at these moments the game will ‘accelerate’, of course ‘insinuating’ an Expanding Cloning Wild that might appear also on the 4-th reel. And when this really happens it’s not just ‘likely’ winning bet lines of 5 identical symbols are formed (thus rewarding the biggest bet line wins) but this will be ‘sure as eggs is eggs’.
All in all (and although it apparently wasn’t my ‘luckiest gaming day ever’) I really enjoyed my first experiences with new video slot Sparks. So therefore I recommend everyone to look for the game on our ‘NetEnt Leading Fansite’ coming Thursday and have a go on the video slot Sparks free play version too!
