eKonto is an online payment solution that’s owned by the Austria based Raiffeisen Bank. The system, exclusively available to Czech citizens, was established in 2008 and nowadays it’s one of the most popular and most used online payment services in the Czech Republic. As part of the Raiffeisen Bank, which is a renowned financial institution with a history of 140 years, eKonto can be considered one of the most secure online payment options for Czech players.
Type of payment: Internet banking
According to the Raiffeisen Bank itself is eKonto (officially dubbed ‘Current account eKonto’) the bank’s ‘flagship’ product and basically an internet bank account that allows holders to manage their finances by (direct) internet banking.
A peculiar feature of the eKonto account is Raiffeisen has attached a savings account to eKonto with attractive interest rates and the bank actually rewards clients that are actively using the account with all sorts of exclusive and beneficial offers.
So to be able to use eKonto a customer needs to open an account at one of the 120 Raiffeisen Bank branches in the Czech Republic. The customer receives several security ‘keys’ that give access to the various eKonto features. The eKonto account consists of 3 online payment solutions:
Transactions made with these three eKonto payment options are all carried out instantly with the amount transferred within minutes arriving on the account of the receiver and in real-time deducted from the payers account. All transactions are encrypted and the same safety measures are applied as to a normal Raiffeisen Bank transfer.
Probably the method by far the most used to pay in online casinos is by ‘Shopping over the internet’. In that case by clicking on the eKonto logo on a website’s payment page will open an eKonto pop-up window that re-directs the payer to his or her own Raiffeisen Bank internet banking interface. After login into the account the payer simply verifies and confirms the pre-filled payment form what immediately will transfer the funds to the receiving party. This method is also completely anonymous as no potentially sensitive information about the payer is shared with the payee.
Although many of the huge amount of possibilities the eKonto account and payment method offers are free of charge the Raiffeisen Bank indeed does ask fees for their services (their price list covers more than 30 PDF pages.
As stated depositing funds on an online casino account is mainly done by being re-direct to the own eKonto Direct (internet) Banking account after clicking on the eKonto button on the payment page. By subsequently opening the account and checking and confirming the pre-filled deposit form the funds will be transferred with the money arriving virtually instantly on the casino account.
Of course it’s also possible to use a VISA or MasterCard debit card and the MasterCard InternetCard issued by eKonto, or another Direct Banking option (GSM Banking, Phone Banking, PDA Banking etc.) which payment methods are also instantly completed.
Possible service fees depend on the used method and the specific casino where the deposit is made.
