First Footage of NetEnt’s Butterfly Staxx
Published on by Adam
As we previously announced in our NetEnt Roadmap for the 2nd quarter, Butterfly Staxx is due on 21st June. That’s just under 2 months away. So, were pleasantly surprised to discover that NetEnt, our favourite provider, has just released the first footage video of the game. And from our first impressions, we can say that, as always, NetEnt is looking to deliver yet another great game. Let’s take a closer look at what information has trickled down from the video.
A Beauty Out of Its Cocoon
Aesthetically, Butterfly Staxx seems to borrow somewhat from NetEnt’ other two recent dreamy games: Fairytale Legends: Red Riding Hood and its sequel Hansel and Gretel, but it is really the successor to NetEnt’s Neon Staxx. It’s all there – the dark natural setting at dusk, the luminous and shimmering effects, fireflies, blossoming flowers and the atmospheric music. However, this time, instead of having the fairy accompany our heroes through their journey, we have butterflies, something more well-suited considering the title and the theme of the game. It all combines to generate a soothing effect and overall gentle ambience that might prove particularly pleasant for players who want to kick back after a hard day’s work.
How Butterfly Staxx Works Its Magic
The game is a 5-reel, 4-row type game with 40 winning combinations. While we are not sure exactly how tweakable the settings of the game are, we know that you can select your bet level as well as the coin value. There are also options for autoplay and maximum bet.
From what we’re given to understand, the special symbols to keep an eye out for during the game are Wilds, Scatters, and the luminous Butterflies themselves representing Wild Substitutions, Re-Spins, and Butterfly Spins in that order.
If you get a whole row of butterflies, this triggers the Butterfly Spins. These take flight and move to the far left, right next to a bunch of budding flowers. These remain there as you spin the reels a few more times. And the more butterflies you get on the reels, the bigger the win you can get. It can go up to a Mega Win.
Getting a minimum of 3 scatter symbols, or as known here, re-spins, unlocks the bonus game, whose number of rounds depends on how many scatter symbols you’d have got. We know that 3 scatter symbols give you 7 free spins here. But we’re not sure at this time what more scatter symbols will get you. During the bonus game, all symbols are substituted for cocoons. As the game goes into auto mode for the free spins, cocoons burst open revealing more butterflies. The total of butterflies at the end of the free spins is calculated and converted into money, which is added to your total after the bonus round.
Wrapping Up Butterfly Staxx
Butterfly Staxx is building up into a game that, with it’s catchy, sparkling visuals and peaceful atmosphere will surely appeal to a crowd of players who like that kind of feel. And while it’s still hard to gather any other information about how the game will unfold and play, we are confident that Butterfly Staxx will make for a fun and attractive game following in the footsteps of Neon Staxx.
