The future form of online casino games is up for debate. Some believe developers will continue to release “traditional” virtual games that allow players to play from their computers. Others think that modern technology will transform the industry, with virtual reality being tapped as a likely contender for future industry norms. While not many game creators have jumped into that ring, Evolution has taken the first step towards making it a reality. They recently released Gonzo’s Treasure Hunt, the first live casino game to offer such an experience. The company also expounded upon their tech goals for 2021 and beyond.
Evolution is no stranger to pioneering a new path in the online casino industry. It remains one of the sole providers of live game shows targeted towards virtual gambling, resulting in players having built up quite a fanbase in the process. The live shows offer players the chance to interact with each other and the host, sometimes even with the game characters themselves.
Released on the 9th of June 2021, Evolution’s new gameshow release marks another first in the industry. Continuing its penchant for creating engaging player experiences, the company launched Gonzo’s Treasure Hunt. This online live show melds slots-style and live gameplay with an exhilarating virtual reality mode. Players attempt to find treasure in the 70-stone grid while interacting with the titular Gonzo in the process.
Evolution has no plans to stop with this latest release. On the contrary, the company is excited to push forward in bold new directions that will bring players unforgettable experiences. Todd Haushalter, Evolution’s chief product officer, explained that the company plans on pushing boundaries this year: “This coming year we’re really pushing the boundaries on innovation and doing stuff that players will love, like a few strategy-type games that are different from anything we have done before.”
More specifically, the company plans to dive into virtual reality and experiment with it further. Haushalter continues: “We’re diving into the world of virtual reality now that the Oculus and other VR headsets have become more popular, and we’re doing a lot of quiet innovation that players will see and feel but won’t necessarily be the big headlines people talk about.”
