The Q3 roadmap from NetEnt has only been out a few days, and the ink only dried on our introduction article to one of the latest slots to grace our screens 4 days ago, yet we now have the very first footage available for When Pigs Fly and a fair chunk of the slot info to boot. But were our predictions correct?
Read our introduction article here and watch the video embedded into this article to find out. Here’s the nitty gritty of this new NetEnt slot:
Let’s face it, it was pretty obvious from the second the details of this slot were released that pigs were going to be involved somehow, and yes, sure enough- you’ll find flying pigs aplenty in this new slot. In typical NetEnt fashion, the games developers have gone for the unexpected however, and the porkers have opted to jet up to space with the aid of a rocket ship rather than wings.
For any of you who were watching American animated cartoons in the 90’s, When Pigs Fly may look a little familiar- the graphics and the astronaut pig, in particular, have a distinctly Ren and Stimpy vibe but, while the symbols may be suitable retro (‘Bar’ symbols, anyone?), the layout is distinctly futuristic.
Just as they did with Pyramid: Quest for Immortality, NetEnt have deviated from the usual 5 by 3 layout with this slot; with an added twist. While When Pigs Fly begins with a layout which sees one symbol in the outer two reels, three in reels 2 and 5 and five in the centre reel, the layout actually adapts while you play and, eventually, you could end up with a more traditional 5 x 5 layout. This quirky new layout means that, as a player, there are 3125 different ways you can win.
The shape of the reels switches up when you land re-spins, and is a complete one-of-a-kind. You can land as many as 5 re-spins- each one opening up 2 new symbols on the reels, and a counter on the right of the screen keeps total of how many you have left to go. If you’re lucky enough to create a winning combination with your fifth and final re-spin, you’ll also land 8 free spins with a full and complete layout to play with!
The sound effects for When Pigs Fly are pretty much what you’d expect- a techno, futuristic vibe with the occasional rocket launch effect thrown in for good measure.
Overall, we love this new slot and are certain it’ll soon be a firm favourite. It’s so nice to see NetEnt continuing their rise to stardom with yet another slot that completely breaks boundaries, and does something that no other video slot has done before. Check back on (rocket) launch date- 21st July- for our full review.
