On the 22nd of January 2021, the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) officially approved online sports betting and casino gaming in the state provided by selected operators. The same day, NetEnt confirmed they would be growing their footprint by starting operations in the newly regulated iGaming market in Michigan. NetEnt enters Michigan as part of the Evolution Group.
Michigan becomes the fourth US State with a NetEnt presence. NetEnt games went live on day one in New Jersey (2015), West Virginia (2020) and Pennsylvania (2019). Players in Michigan can now also access NetEnt games on BetRivers/RSI, BetMGM, Golden Nugget, Churchill Downs, WynnBET, DraftKings, FanDuel and William Hill. The MGCB has issued those brands multiple licences permitting them to start operations.
Expanding into a Priority Market
Evolution Group is a front runner in the growing US gaming market. It aims to ensure that as states authorise online betting its services will go live from day one. Jeff Millar, Evolution’s Commercial Director, North America stated: “Friday’s successful launch with multiple operators is the result of months of planning for Michigan’s go live and years of on the ground experience in the US.”
For Evolution, the launch is a significant part of its expansion plan. Millar said:
“America is an absolute priority market for Evolution Group, which is reflected by the scale of NetEnt’s first-day presence in Michigan.”
Plans for Growth
Players in Michigan can now enjoy the entire portfolio of NetEnt slots. That includes the top-rated slot titles Divine Fortune, Blackjack and Starburst. The Live Casino offerings will soon be broadcast from Michigan, as Evolution, the world leader in live gaming, opens its third state of the art Live Casino studio in the US.
This industry leader has eleven fully equipped Live Casino broadcast studios globally, including two in the US, in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
On further expansion in the US, Millar added:
“We are poised to add more operators in all US markets during 2021 and have a roadmap of high-profile game launches. And, as we’ve once again shown, we’re ready for new markets being switched on and partnering casinos to offer a standout product to their players the minute they go live.”
