NetEnt’s Majority Shareholders, Knutsson Holdings AB, has kicked off 2021 with a $5m equity investment in the Golden Matrix Group Inc (GMGI). This new investment will extend Knutsson into the Asia Pacific region through the GMGI network. Since 1963, Knutsson Holdings AB, a part of the Knutsson Group of Companies, has been heavily involved in the gaming industry, operating casinos in Sweden and worldwide.
Michael Knutsson and Tristan Sjöberg are the brothers who co-own Knutsson Holdings, a Swedish private equity firm. The CEO, Michael Knutsson, runs the family-owned company. It owns and develops online gaming IP and social gaming platforms for the international market.
As online gaming began to grow around two decades ago, Knutsson chose to focus its investments in this gaming sector, becoming a behemoth amongst Swedish investors. The company’s major shareholders include NetEnt AB, Betsson, Scout Gaming and Better Collective.
A Bright Future Ahead
In a statement that reveals a potentially positive future, a spokesperson from Knutsson said:
“We are very pleased to secure this investment in GMGI, and look forward to working together.”
This statement is fully supported by GMGI, as shared by the CEO of Golden Matrix, Brian Goodman. He said: “We are extremely pleased to welcome the Knutsson family as significant strategic investors in Golden Matrix. We hope to benefit from all their years of extensive participation and investment in gaming.
We look forward to a long-term, fruitful relationship that will contribute to our efforts to expand GMGI into a global brand.”
These statements reveal an exciting future ahead, with both brands being able to leverage their strengths and increase their reach, taking online gaming to the next level. The Knutsson Group of Companies has invested heavily in Social Gaming, iGaming, Tech Companies, Health Care, Diving Equipment, Co-Working, and Trotting. A very diverse portfolio.
Golden Matrix focuses on gaming IP by developing various tools, including marketing, acquisition, retention, and monetisation of users for social gaming platforms. They specialise in building configurable and scalable white-label platforms. Knutsson Holdings AB’s investment involves the private placement purchase of one million units of GMGI at $5.00 per unit. For each unit, there is one restricted share of GMGI common stock and one common share warrant with an exercise price of $6.00.
