After NetEnt’s The Challenge participants arrived at the Alps mountain last time, we take a look at this week’s episode which essentially puts the finishing touches to the team’s plans. They’ve put a lot of work into getting to this stage, but the quest only properly begins once they take their first steps.
However, before they do this, NetEnt have arranged for some last-minute guidance from some experienced mountaineers to put them in the right frame of mind. Let’s take a look at what went on during episode 6 of NetEnt’s The Challenge.
Once the team awoke from their slumber, all expressed the difficulties they shared in getting that all-important rest. Too small beds, the altitude and general psychological differences were all touted as problems, but the team were particularly jovial about it in the morning.
The bed was so small, so when you turned the blanket started sliding off! – Tomas
Once they’d suitably broken their fast, their attentions turned rather more serious. It’s the final chance for the four of them to learn exactly what they need to enable them to climb to the top of the mountain, so all were starting to focus on the climb ahead.
Before we got into the nitty-gritty details of how to climb a mountain, Averil took us through her experience as part of the NetEnt Live Casino setup in sunny Malta. She explains how she began her journey as a dealer herself, spending 3 years in the role before moving into training full-time – describing NetEnt as “an excellent place to grow”.
The best thing about my job is the fact that I get to meet all the new faces.
They start from almost nothing before learning everything there is to know about roulette and blackjack and how to deal them – Averil
As part of her hobbies away from NetEnt Live Casino, Averil says she shares a keen interest in acting. This dates back to more than 6 years ago, with roles in soap operas and dramas said to be either in the pipeline or wrapped up. So, be on the lookout for Averil both on and off the table in the video world!
Back to the mountain and Dhiraj is being walked through how to use the equipment properly to ascent to the top. Crampons (to wear alongside boots) and the ice axe are shown and demonstrated in action, before the team are told about the importance of staying tied together.
It’s a real danger around here that there are big cracks in the glacier that you may fall into, so we all need to be roped together for safety at all times – Alice
Dhiraj gives an example of the teamwork on show, with each member relaying information that was misheard the first time. Mountain guide Andreas says that working together is imperative to their success, as mastering this makes the quest “doable”.
Next week on NetEnt’s The Challenge is what we’ve all been waiting for – the climb to the top! Will it all be plain sailing, or will some unexpected obstacles need to be overcome? Tune back in next Monday at Netent Casino to see what happens.
