Some breaking news has just come to our attention here at Netent Casino, and it’s a mixed bag of US online gambling regulation. As you’ll know if you’re a regular reader, we’ve been following the Pennsylvania case for a number of months and it looks as though movements are happening again.
Furthermore, online poker in New York seemed a dead cert less than a month ago, after the Senate passed bill S-3898 with just 5 votes against.
Well, we’ve got things to tell on both areas, beginning with Pennsylvania.
We last left you with the news that HB 271 have passed through the Senate, but with a hugely damaging 54% tax attributed to online slots and table games.
This is clearly unworkable for many operators to even consider, but all was not lost due to the House’s softer stance on a few pressing issues.
Negotiations between the Pennsylvanian Senate and House on the subject of iGaming are underway.
We’ve now gotten word that the two parties are in the process of attempting to thrash out a deal so that online gambling in Pennsylvania finally becomes a reality.
It’s no secret that iGaming fans in PA have remained patient for a long time, but it’s hoped that next month could see legislation introduced if the major sticking points are overcome.
The problem with the US and some other countries’ is that their stance on internet gaming entertainment can change in an instant.
One minute it seems as though everything’s rosy, with draft regulation seemingly on its way, until it turns to despair the next.
The New York State Assembly flat out ignored S-3898 during their legislative session, despite its support in the Senate.
There won’t be a clearer example this year of New York’s take on online poker, with Netent Casino reporting at the end of May how a deal could be close.
However, the Assembly didn’t seem too interested which means it’s likely to be another year of confusion for NY fans.
Although we know many of you like to come to Netent Casino for the very best in quality online casino bonuses, we also know that some will be interested in iGaming developments around the world.
